Diploma in Therapeutic MassageNZQA accredited - Level 6 This course is approved by NZ Qualifications Authority under the provisions of the Education Act 1989, and the Lotus Holistic Centre is accredited to teach it. Class contact 700 hours. Home study and home practicum 550 hours. The Lotus Holistic Centre has taught a full time Diploma of Massage Therapy course since 1990. This programme was accredited by NZQA in March 1996, and student loans and allowances have been available since that time. This course comprises 35 weeks, 700 hours of face to face tuition in the classroom. On top of this, students are expected to complete 500 hours of home study and 50 hours of massage practicum at home and in the community. All components outlined below must be successfully completed to attain the Diploma unless Recognition of Prior Learning has been granted. Graduates of the Lotus Holistic Centre Diploma in Therapeutic Massage can register with Massage New Zealand as a Remedial Massage Therapists (RMT) - visit www.massagenewzealand.org. We pride ourselves on incorporating a range of modalities so that clients of our graduates can be treated in a holistic way, combining swedish massage with acupressure and polarity energy balancing ("eastern modalities"), as well asreflexology, aromatherapy, movement integration and sports massage techniques. ENTRY REQUIREMENTSApplicants must satisfy the Directors that they are likely to succeed, and need to attend an interview. Open entry for students over the age of 21. An assessment is available for those who do not have relevant school qualifications. RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNINGStudents who have completed the Lotus Holistic Centre Certificate in Wellness Massage have completed almost half the requirements of the Diploma in Therapeutic Massage. Students who have trained elsewhere may apply for recognition of prior learning by providing a transcript of course completions to our office and paying an RPL processing fee of $50/hour.

Students doing only the Certificate in Wellness Massage will attend class on :- Three days per week, Monday - Wednesday in semester 1 (terms 1 & 2) PLUS Students who choose Sports massage or Aromatherapy as their options will attend these classes in semester two (terms 3 & 4) or in weekend classes (click here for more information on weekend classes). Students of the Diploma in Therapeutic Massage will attend class on :- Four days per week, Monday - Thursday all year. Students of the Certificate in Wellness Massage who intend to complete the Diploma in Therapeutic Massage in 2013 should complete Anatomy & Physiology B in 2012. CLASS TIMESMorning classes: 9 a.m. – 12 noon Afternoon classes: 12.45 p.m. – 2.45 p.m.
FEES AND EXPENSESCostsCurrent tuition fees are provided in our prospectus, or enquire at our office. The course fee covers the cost of all tuition fees and some photocopied notes. The fee is due in full at the commencement of the year, but may be paid off with the permission of the Directors. Student loans and allowances are available. Access to a massage table at home is a course requirement. Some can be purchased through the college for $450.00. This cost can be borrowed on your student loan as a "course-related expense". You will need to purchase your textbooks. Some are available through the college, or can be ordered online – try www.thenile.co.nz. Some course notes are available through the college. Total cost is approximately $450.00. Part time students may be accepted and will pay per course studied – module fees are available from our office. Graduates of the Lotus Holistic Centre Diploma in Naturopathy & Herbal Medicine will pay a discounted full-time fee.
