Lotus campus

The Lotus Holistic Centre opened in 1987 and has operated from its current premises since 1990. The two adjoining properties have subsequently been purchased and the whole site has been developed to provide a specialised campus to teach the massage and natural therapies programmes.

A student common room and a recreation room are available for student use, along with a computer facility. The library provides a wide range of relevant books. There are three clinics for students to use with members of the public.

A pleasant courtyard links the campus, and the grounds provide a sheltered and pleasant outdoor environment.

This facility was developed to provide a positive and supportive environment where students can develop their own strengths and skills in the area of holistic health and healing. Founder/ director Glenda Palmer, Director Alison Grace and Manager Cathy Allan are the managers of the college, assisted by an advisory board. Lizzie Gilbertson is our Head of Department for the Naturopathy programme, and we have around 25 part-time tutors who come in to teach our broad range of subjects.

The Lotus Holistic Centre is a Private Training Establishment, accredited by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) to teach courses in Massage, Naturopathy, Herbal Medicine and related modalities. These courses have the same status as any tertiary qualification, leading to fully recognised diplomas and certificates.

Campus layout

Year 1 Naturopathy and Herbal Medicine students are based in the Rose Room, year 2 in the Green House, and year 3 in the White House. Massage classes are held in the Paua Room. The Rainbow Rooms are used by year 3 students for clinics with members of the public. Weekend courses are held in either the Rose or Paua Rooms.

There are lots of great outdoor spaces in this homely environment to enjoy Hawkes Bay's sunny weather during breaks!
