ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
International students will be accepted only if they are 18 or older on 1 February in the year of application, and if they have demonstrated effective communication skills in English. Where English is a second language students must meet the Academic IELTS, overall band standard of 6.0.
Students need to have a good level of English to cope with the high academic level of the theoretical content of our courses. Students may withdraw from their course within the first two weeks and receive a full refund of course fees paid less the administration fee of $500.
If you decide to carry on with the course in spite of language difficulties you may do so in agreement with the Directors, understanding that you may not be able to pass all written assessments, and so not receive the full diploma. You would be credited with all units completed, and receive an attendance certificate.
Applicants for our diploma programmes must have two referees complete and return a referees report form, included in the enrolment pack.
The College directors reserve the right to refuse admission to an applicant where they consider they are not suitable.
International students are not eligible to receive student loans and allowances.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
- The applicant must provide proof of their ability in the English language.
- The standard required is an overall band of 6.0 on the Academic IELTS scale.
- Production of this evidence is the responsibility of the candidate, not the Lotus Holistic Centre and must be completed prior to acceptance.
APPLICATION PROCESS
When inquiring about study at the Lotus Holistic Centre, a prospective student should have received the following:
- Prospectus
- Dates and Fees Information
- Guidelines for International Students
- Enrolment Form
- Referees forms
If for some reason you have not received all of these documents then please contact the Lotus Holistic Centre. It is essential that students read through all of these documents as they contain important information.
APPLICATION TO STUDY
Prospective students wishing to apply to study at the Lotus Holistic Centre must submit the following documentation:
- Completed enrolment form
- Proof of English language standard
- Proof of financial stability and the resources to meet all the costs of study, accommodation and personal needs for the full duration of the course ($10,000.00 per annum)
- Proof of current Medical and Travel Insurance
- Two referees forms
- Any other information that may be material to the assessment of this application
- Pay a non-refundable administration fee of $500
OFFER OF A PLACE
In order to be accepted for study at the Lotus Holistic Centre, students must provide all the information listed above and meet the entry requirements for their chosen programme of study as given in the guidelines for international students. Failure to provide any of the information required will result in the application being declined.
The Lotus Holistic Centre endeavours to process all applications within 7-10 working days. Once accepted, the Lotus Holistic Centre will provide the student with a letter of acceptance confirming their entry. At this point the student must pay for a full year of tuition. Please note that these funds are kept in a separate trust account and will be refunded (less the $500 administration fee) if a student is denied a student visa. Once this payment has been received a formal Offer of Place of study will be given to the student. Once an offer of place has been received, students must apply to the New Zealand Immigration Service (NZIS) to obtain a student visa. This is the students responsibility. See the NZIS website for details http://www.immigration.govt.nz/.
COMMENCING STUDENTS
In order to commence their studies a student must have completed the following:
- All enrolment documentation.
- Paid the full tuition fees for a year of study.
- Proof of a student visa provided by the New Zealand Immigration Service.
- Proof of current medical and travel insurance.
FEES
Course fees cover the cost of professional charts and some photocopied notes. Current course fees are available on request from the office.
Text books and treatment tables are a course requirement and some can be purchased through the college (approximately $750.00 for books and $500.00 for a table). Students supply their own stationery.
No student shall graduate unless all fees and other costs have been paid in full. The tuition costs for overseas students are higher than for New Zealand students. The reason for this is that Government financial assistance is not available to the College for international students. New Zealand citizens and residents normally qualify for NZ government tertiary education subsidies.
Course fees can be paid by cash, cheque, or direct credit.
OTHER COSTS
- Compulsory Medical and Travel Insurance (estimate only) $450.00-$700.00 per annum
- Accommodation (estimate only) $80.00-$180.00/week
- Living Expenses. New Zealand is not an expensive country: prices are cheaper than in many European countries, USA and Japan, and more expensive than in many other Asian and South American countries.
Here are some examples of what you might expect to pay in New Zealand dollars:
- A fast food meal $5 -$10.
- A can of cola $1.50.
- A coffee in a café $3.50.
- A hair cut $10-$15 (men) $25-$50 (women).
REFUNDS
If a student withdraws before the academic programme begins then they will receive a refund of all tuition fees paid but the administration fee of $500.00 is not refundable.
If a student decides to withdraw within the first two weeks from the start of the course, he/she will receive a full refund of tuition fees, less 10% or $500 whichever is the lesser. All students who wish to withdraw must complete a Withdrawal Form, attach the original Offer of Place letter, return all books and materials provided by the college, and provide any other supporting documentation to the Registrar within two weeks of the commencement of the course.
If a student is expelled then no refund of tuition fees will be given.
Discretion in granting a refund rests with the Directors for students who withdraw from a course after more than two but less than four weeks from the start of the course.
No refunds will be made if more than four weeks of the course have been completed.
If an international student is granted permanent residency within four weeks of the commencement of an academic year then the student will receive a refund of international fees and will be charged domestic tuition fees. If an international student is granted permanent residency after more than four weeks of the commencement of the academic year then they will receive no refund of their tuition fees until the following year when they will be charged as a domestic student.
FEES PROTECTION
Student fees will be deposited into a Trust Account administered independently as per NZQA Fee Protection Policy 2004. The amount held in the Trust Account will be at least equal to the sum of all the fees paid by each individual student should a refund be required, and will be held for a minimum of 10 days after students are required to be in attendance on the course. If the College voluntarily withdraws, or ceases to offer its programmes all effort would be made to protect student·interests. Students would be given a choice of receiving a pro-rata refund or assistance to enrol in a·similar programme with a transfer of fees.
